A trippy intro for Dub Daze, an imagined TV series about drug usage in the rave subcultures of 90s Britain. Soundtracked with Massive Attack’s Risingson.

I entered this project with the goal of pushing myself far past my comfort zone. Before Dub Daze, I hadn’t done much to explore the capabilities of After Effects. Countless hours of tutorials, trial-and-error, and experimentation through this project have added a host of new skills to my toolbox, from masking to the graph editor and beyond.

This project came with its fair share of frustrations. The visual effects I worked with were very tricky, so most of my time was spent tweaking keyframes, undoing, then tweaking again. I’m very happy with my outcome: as a champion of clean vectors I rarely work with fuzz and blur, so it was a nice exercise to play with a new visual style. This project has boosted my After Effects confidence to new heights!
